I've seriously never seen a good isekai manga.

Top 10 Fights from Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front – Babylonia
Posted by :
zahid
FGO Babylonia or Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front – Babyloniahas been one of my favorite anime in recent years for many reasons. Among that reasons are the intense fight scenes in the anime that truly gave me the shivers, the excitement of having an adrenaline rush and my blood pumping as well as the feels. As someone who grew up in the influence of shounen anime, fight scenes had been an integral part of my addiction to any medium of anime production and no matter what its genre is.
Since we are talking about anime fights, the first thing that comes into my mind is the greatly animated fight scenes from FGO Babylonia. Why FGO Babylonia, and not the other anime series out there? Well, in my recent memory, FGO Babylonia fights is fresh since the anime just concluded last March 2020, that was 3 months ago. Throughout that span of 3 months, the only action anime I had seriously follow is Tower of God, while I did watched several anime movies including Psycho-Pass: First Inspector, and Afro Samurai. That’s quite unfortunate, but I spent most of my quarantine days watching Chinese anime, and those from other genres like psychological, romance, slice of life, and mystery.

Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front – Babylonia Key Visual |
Obviously, I could still remember the lit actions that we had from various anime from 2019 such as Dororo, Attack on Titan, The Rising of the Shield Hero, Vinland Saga, Demon Slayer, and My Hero Academia – all had been among my best anime series of 2019. However, Fate/Grand Order – Babylonia had been stuck in my head recent as an amazing drama and action anime.
In this post, I would like to share my top 10 anime fights from FGO Babyloniaand I am eagerly excited for this because there’s just too much to talk about this topic. I know there are various of fight scenes from the anime but I will only include the 10 significant FGO Babylonia fights that really captured my heart and attention. Therefore, I shall start this list of amazing fights from the anime with the exchange of blows between Mash & Ana against the king himself, Gilgamesh. Well, these fights were only among the reasons why FGO Babylonia dominated our Winter 2020 Anime Lineup.
Gilgamesh vs Mash & Ana vs Ishtar
Here we have the amazing showdown that means a lot to me. I mean, I am huge fan of King Gilgamesh so, when he decided to test the skills of the last master of humanity from Chaldea and fought Mash & Ana, this just gives me some intense shivers. One thing that we should take note though is that Gilgamesh is a demi-human caster this time, instead of being the archer-servant. In this moment, our goddess Ishtar also infiltrated Uruk to greet the arrival of the master of Chaldea in a fight against Mash, Ana, and King Gilgamesh.
Kingu vs Gilgamesh, Fujimaru and Mash
This scene had made me realized just how powerful Kingu is. He easily dominated the combined forces of Fujimaru, Mash, and even King Gilgamesh himself. A clash between two forces with different beliefs but connected by fate.
Kingu vs Quetzalcoatl
Two of the most overwhelming characters from Fate/Grand Order – Babylonia had come face to face in this fight when Fujimaru and crew are attacking’s Gorgon’s lair. This is where Quetzalcoatl had keep Kingu busy in order to allow Fujimaru to infiltrate Gorgon’s lair while also Quetzalcoatl also launching the Axe of Marduk. I must say this is a well-animated fight scene between 2 individuals which almost the same level of strength and pride.
Leonidas & Ushiwakamaru vs Gorgon
The King of Sparta had given us a spectacular fight against Gorgon on which he stood firmly against her petrifying power. Furthermore, the fight was further intensified when Ushiwakamaru gave Gorgon a nice fight with his speed, agility, and great swordsmanship. This is one of the best moments in the earlier episodes of FGO Babylonia, Ushiwakamaru sure is the MVP of that fight.
Fujimaru, Mash & Ishtar vs Ereshkigal
In the 2nd cour of FGO Babylonia, we had seen Gilgamesh descend to underworld, and that’s where Fujimaru together with Ishtar and Mash visited the mistress of Kur (Underworld) at her domain. This has been a funny, sentimental, and action-packed moment with so much drama. We had proven that even gods are also emotionally conflicted in this universe. The rivalry of Ishtar and Ereshkigal was also well-shown and narrated here, with Fujimaru so hard to gained the allegiance of Ereshkigal.
Fujimaru, Mash & Ishtar vs Quetzalcoatl
In order to save Uruk from the fierce foreign goddess, Fujimaru Ritsuka embark on a journey along with Mash and Ishtar to defeat Quetzalcoatl and at the same made allegiance with her. It has been a toughed fight for the Master from Chaldea especially that Quetzalcoatl had been one of the strongest characters in FGO – Babylonia. Quetzalcoatl easily dominated the combined forces of Fujimaru, Mash and even with another goddess which is Ishtar. Good thing is that Fujimaru’s humanity saves them and with his beliefs, ideas and principles, he was able to win the allegiance of Quetzalcoatl.
Fujimaru, Merlin, Mash & Ana vs Gorgon
The first climax of FGO Babylonia took place in this moment and this is where we had witness the fight of Fujimaru and company to defeat Gorgon. Fujimaru together with Merlin, Mash & Ana had infiltrated Gorgon’s Lair and we also get to know the truth about Ana who’s in reality is another servant, and that’s Medusa. Yes, this has been a personal battle between Ana aka Medusa against corrupted self (Gorgon). The entire episode was emotionally overbearing and Ana’s departure fromt he group seriously broke my heart.
Kingu Assaulted Tiamat
While I don’t think this is an actual fight, but it’s an all-out assault made by Kingu (Enkidu) on Tiamat. What’s great about this epic scene is the fact that Kingu revolted against his mother Tiamat as he felt betrayed. Furthermore, he finally comes to terms with the fact that he reside in the body of Enkidu, and he also had the memories that Enkidu and Gilgamesh shared. It sure is one of the most dramatic scene in the entire series while Milet’s song “Tell Me” is playing in the background that further intensifies the emotional maelstrom at the moment. We also had a beautiful sight of Enuma Elish, and the Chain of the Heavens at its full might and glory.
Quetzalcoatl Launched Noble Phantasm on Tiamat
Here’s one of the best sakuga moments and intense fights from FGO Babylonia and it is when Quetzalcoatl assaulted Tiamat with her 2 Noble Phantasm consecutively. Her first attacked is when she used Piedra del Sol which incinerated everything in sight including the black mud on which Tiamat walked on as well as the surrounding Lahmu, and the tainted version of Ushiwakamaru and Benkei. The second attacked of Quetzalcoatl is Ultimo Tope Patada which is a direct assault on Tiamat’s protective shield and destroyed her horn. Obviously, this was only one of the scenes that made FGO Babylonia, the best action anime from winter 2020 season.
The Ultimate Battle Against Tiamat (Beast II)
In the climax of FGO Babylonia, the fight to defeat Tiamat who became Beast II had reached its peak. The fate of the whole humanity and the world rest in the hand of a human (Fujimaru Ritsuka) and the allies that he had met along his journey: Mash, Ishtar, Ereshkigal, Merlin, archer-class servant Gilgamesh, and the Old Man in the Mountain. This climactic battle had been a fantastic one and did give justice to all the accumulated excitement and great built up in the prior episodes to lead the whole story into a satisfying denouement. It was a tough battle to defeat Tiamat, and CloverWorks really did put a great effort to almost every fight scenes in FGO Babylonia and that includes this one.
And that’s it for my list of top 10 fights FGO Babylonia anime adaptation. Is there some more fights from the anime that you think should be included? Please let us know about it as well as your favorite of those fights from the anime by leaving your comment below.

Crystal Sky of Yesterday Anime Review: A Tale of Teenage Dreams, Romance & Drama
Posted by :
zahid
Hey guys, I am back for another review and this time I will share my thoughts on Crystal Sky of Yesterday, one of my favorite Chinese anime movies that were released last 2018. The film’s original title is Zuo ri qing kong or Crystal Sky of Yesterday in English. It reminds me of Makoto Shinkai works especially with how vivid and beautiful the animation quality was, and the visuals are pure aesthetics. Upon taking a look at the trailer, the first thing that comes into my mind is Makoto Shinkai’s 2013 film Garden of Words (still one of my all-time favorites), and Kyoto Animation’s Violet Evergarden. The plot is just like any other coming-of-age stories out there but the entire experience of watching it just brought back so many nostalgic moments which I will discuss later in this post.
Crystal Sky of Yesterday anime film is based on a comic by Yijian Gong. It was directed by Chao Xiand was released in China on October 16, 2018.
Plot: Tu Xiaoyi, Yao Zhetian, and Qi Jingxuan are high school students in a small town, Lanxi, in southern China. This is a story about dreams, friendship, family and first love in their youthful days.
Crystal Sky of Yesterday Trailer
The movie is almost perfect despite having inconsistencies and noticeable flaws. In general, Crystal Sky of Yesterday was able to capture the beauty and conflicting life of being an adolescent and it was so realistic and simplistic as it could be. What’s amazing about it is that it is conversing with our emotional self, our sentimental self. It could’ve been better, but the simple approached the film used to appeal with the viewers both visually and emotionally are impactful. There’s a lot of gaps that need to filled but it only shows how complex the story is if we reflect on it thoroughly, and let us bring forth the conflicted emotions and memories we had from our teenage years too.
The story follows three teenagers: Tu Xiaoyi, Yao Zhetian, and Qi Jingxuan from their high school days as they struggle and work hard to graduate, discover more about their own self and their desires, their dreams; and their special yet conflicted friendship, and sacrifices.
Animation, Graphics & Music
Animation-wise, Crystal Sky of Yesterday could be easily compared to Makoto Shinkai films. On my end, I think it closely resembles Flavors of Youth, another Chinese anime which was made in collaboration between Haoliners Animation League, and Comix Wave (the studio behind Your Name., though Shinkai is not involved in this project). The attention to details especially on lighting could be easily seen, and the visual effects on “water” simply reminds me more of the Garden of Words.
Aside from the beautiful animation, Crystal Sky of Yesterday also thrives in its audio effects and music. Yes, sound editing for the film reminds me of some films by Shinkai, especially his recent film “Weathering With You.” But what really stands out for me and I think was stunning was when they used the opening theme song of 90s anime Slam Dunk during one of the scene from the film where Tu Xiaoyi and Qi Jingxuan played basketball – oh that scene was just perfect.
In regards to noticeable inconsistencies in the animation, can you guys believe that the movie was made by various animation studios from China at that time? Yes, almost if not all big players in 2D animation in China contributed to making the film. Crystal Sky of Yesterday was quite a big production that time and this aspect did affect the animation quality that leads to inconsistencies but I believed it just makes the film even more interesting and you can just easily ignore it. It feels like watching a showcase of what the Chinese animation industry could offer.
Setting & Characters Development
The story is a high school drama and one that would give us a relatable vibe. I don’t know about you guys but as a 90s kid, this story just resonates with my heart in the most spectacular way. It brings back to many good memories, or maybe I just felt like a senile at 28 right now. And just like what Cuchallain stated in his review:
The anime is summoning our best and worst memories from one of the most important stages of our life. It’s nostalgic, emotionally conflicted yet simplistic.
We have one of the main characters Tu Xiaoyu talks about how he met Qi Jingxuan, how their friendship started, and their interaction with another character Yao Zhetian. The story revolves around their dreams, their effort to graduate, their budding friendship, and everything that you can remember from your typical high school life. The conflicted romantic feelings they feel, and their sacrifices.
Among the characters, I had been charmed by Qi Jingxuan, the hot-headed high school boy that reminds us that there’s more to life than just the four corners of the classroom. Furthermore, he is a hottie too. We also have Tu Xiaoyi, our main protagonist who reminds me of my own self a lot. Every character is dealing with their own personal struggles and battles, as they went through with the adolescent life which is a battleground that they need to conquer in order to become an adult. The film talks about the characters’ high and lows, their successes and failures, their regrets as they deal with societal expectations.
There's a bit of sadness in its story but wasn't emphasize. While it's far from being a tear-jerker films, it could be among the sad yet romantic coming-of-age anime movies we had in recent years.
There's a bit of sadness in its story but wasn't emphasize. While it's far from being a tear-jerker films, it could be among the sad yet romantic coming-of-age anime movies we had in recent years.
Thoughts & Reflections
On a personal note, I hold Crystal Sky of Yesterday as a dear anime movie. For me, it’s not just a movie for entertainment but it is a reflection of the past that I had shared with people I had met in my life from my high school days. While the entire experience of watching the film is purely aesthetic, it appeals to me emotionally, rather than satisfying me visually. I felt like the movie did have a perfect built up in the beginning yet slowly loses the momentum later on when it tries to delve deeper and tackles various adolescent issues and couldn’t handle it anymore. It got overwhelmed that it wasn’t able to pinpoint what it was supposed to deliver. So, it looks like it fell short of reaching its climax and eventually jump to its denouement without giving us tidbits of information on what actually transpired. In this instance, it left me craving for more, it left me a bit empty despite all the built-up.
When you finally finished the film, that’s where you felt like it has been rushed. It’s far from being revolutionary or record-breaker, but the fun and enjoyment factor is there. It was able to visually entertained us, it succeeded in driving our eyes produced some tears. It just reminded us that we, too, had our own Crystal Sky of Yesterday to look back at and reminisced.
I have listed Crystal Sky of Yesterday as one of my recommended donghua for beginners, you can check it here: "Chinese Anime Movies" starter pack

Posted by :
zahid
Psychic Princess or Tong Ling Fei! The anime community only heard of this title from the 2018 Chinese anime adaptation of the manhwa series, but did you know that the Psychic Princess also gets a live-action drama last 2019? Yes, it did and if you hadn’t learn or heard of it yet, let me introduced the web-series to you as I believed it’ll be amazing to check it while waiting for the Psychic Princess Season 2.
Psychic Princess live-drama web seriespremiered last December 28, 2019 until January 21, 2020. It has a total of 52 episodes and runs for a duration of 1 minute per episode. You can binge-watch the entirety of the web-series for approximate duration of 55 minutes to 1 hour.
The series was directed by Jeremy Chen, who previously co-directed the movie “Seven Days.” The Psychic Princess web-series stars Huang Ri Ying as Qian Yun Xi, and Kevin Yan as Prince Ye (Ye You Ming).
Last month, it was announced that Psychic Princess live-drama season 2 is scheduled to premiere on July 12, 2020 at Tencent Video.

- Ji Xiang Ning as Yu Zi Mo
- Zhang Lin Ran as Nan Qing Wan

My Thoughts on it!
My thought when I first heard of it is that, will they be able to give the same vibes as the anime?I mean Psychic Princess anime adaptation was so effing good that each episode left you craving for more. While such is not the case with the web series, I did enjoy how adorable the overall production is. Each episode is 1-minute long and it looks like a cute slideshow of videos made for indie film. I think it was nicely done, using a different approach than the other Chinese drama series out there.
The series was able to capture the comedic aspect of the story, the humor is just spot on. As one of the best comedy anime from China, the web-series should have the same magic as the donghua. While romance isn’t highlighted, I could clearly see the chemistry between the main characters and the actors portraying them. All in all, I did enjoy watching it and for people who are anxiously waiting for Psychic Princess Season 2, you can try to check this short series first and just brings back the fun and memories. Of course, it could only covered few materials from the manhwa but it’s worth checking out if you’re only looking for some underrated series to make the time pass by.

Meet the Fun Characters of All Saints Street Anime Adaptation
Posted by :
zahid
Hey guys, I am back to discuss about one of the most surprisingly beautiful and fun Chinese anime of 2020 and that is All Saints Street which was released last April 1 as part. Throughout the whole run of All Saints Street anime adaptation, it was able to give us an adorable experience and tons of great dosage of humor.
While it may look like our average American cartoon, the animation quality of All Saints Street is pretty good and the comic relief in it is purely genuine. What’s even more amazing about it aside from its fantastic animation, are the adorable characters that caught our hearts. Yes, All Saints Street characters are among the biggest factor why the anime had been effective.
If you’re wondering who are the characters from All Saints Street, you shouldn’t worry as we will introduced them to you one by one. In this post, I would like to you guys to meet the characters of All Saints Street that appeared in the anime adaptation so far. A short overview about All Saints Street anime – it was based on a popular Chinese webcomic titled All Saints Street: 1031 or 1031 All Saints Street by author Lingzi. It is about a group of foreign monsters (vampire, demons, mummies, angels, etc) living their life in the modern day China, and adjusting to the environment and society around them. All Saints Street shares the same universe as Fei Ren Zai or Non-Human, another work of Lingzi. The anime adaptation was streamed on Tencent’s official site, and an English subtitles at Percy’s YouTube channel.
Now, let’s meet the characters of All Saints Street that made the whole experience of watching the anime an amazing one despite its short duration of runtime.
All Saints Street Opening Theme
First, I would like to share the opening theme of All Saints Street here. It has all the characters that I’ll introduced in the next section too. This opening theme is possibly one of the most adorable and cutest I’d seen from any anime series so far.
All Saints Street Characters
Neil Bowman
Also known as Nini, Neil Bowman is the main protagonist of All Saints Street. Neil is part of the Demon species and was listed with Australian nationality. The anime was shown following his journey when he first set foot on 1031 All Saints Street and his daily encounter with his supernatural roommates. Neil is a young demon with wavy white hair and brown, short horns. His ears resembles those of a goat, since it is his true form. Despite having an appearance of a teenager, Neil is actually an adult. He has a half-brother whose name is Nick Hoult.
Nini was quite the naive type but I believed that further adds more charm to character. Unfortunately, this has been among the source of comic relief in the anime as his roommates usually fooling around with him adorably. Nini also loves animals as seen when he is working on a pet shop filled with supernatural creatures.
Ira Blood
Here we have a video content creator who came from the Vampire race. Yes, as affiliated with his surname Blood, Ira is a vampire and someone whom anyone of us could relate ourselves with. He is British and he enjoyed creating video content with topics about beauty and gaming, yeah just like any other Vlogger out there nowadays. Furthermore, he’s an otaku whose graphic t-shirts are related to gaming and pop culture, that was seriously cool. Oh wait, he also knows how to apply make up and even did a presentation in one of his shows.
Ira is from a high ranked family of vampires and was the first individual that Nini met when he arrived at 1031 All Saints Street. He even made a prank on Nini’s first day in the house. In fact, it’s not only Nini who had experienced his blackmailing side, even our adorable werewolf Damao did so, and I’m sure even the other characters in the story too.
Damao
Next in our list is the somewhat hot yet clueless werewolf in All Saints Street story and it’s Damao. If there’s any signatures that we can link with Damao, it’s seriously being always shirtless most of the time, and clueless all of the time. He had been the main source of comic relief in the anime but this only makes his presence even more adorable and fun to watch, especially when Ira is making fun of him, or when his werewolf side is taking over.
Damao is from Russia and he was sent to China to spy on the newly born Demon King who happens to be Neil Bowman. In an unfortunate series of events, he ended up to 1031 All Saints Street when Ira brought him in. There, he was caught surprised to learn that he’ll be living under the same roof with the same person that he’s spying on. This leads into a hilarious relationship between Damao and Neil.
Lynn Angel
Here we have the strict landlord at 1031 All Saints Street. He is an Angel and a Canadian who’s working as a Chinese Teacher. He is quite the clean-freak too and he can easily get mad at those who don’t do their chores. His involvement with Neil is few compared to Ira and Damao, however he seems like to be the older brother figure in the group. Fun fact, Lynn is floating while sleeping. His age is estimated to be around 450 years old. According to All Saints Street fandom page, Lynn has a total of 107 PhDs and he has an irrational fear of aliens.
Lily Angel
We have Lynn’s younger sister here, and that is Lily Angel. This cute yet quite rebellious angel seems to be the love interest of Neil Bowman. Her personality is far different from her brother, she’s quite the laid-back type and cheerful who always smile.
Abu
Our Egyptian mummy is here whose presence accounted for 1% only throughout the run of All Saints Street anime series. Nonetheless, it is enough for us viewers to remember this awesome and cool guy. As a mummy, Abu is the oldest in the entire apartment and seems like to be royalty. He was only seen in the background most of the time throughout the whole season but it seems he’ll play some big role in the highly speculated All Saints Street Season 2.
Nick Hoult
Yes, we might have All Saints Street Season 2 since this guy wasn’t introduced in the anime yet but he appeared in the effing cute opening theme of the series. Nick Hoult is the half-brother of Neil Bowman and it seems that we will see him soon in case the season 2 will officially comes.
Nick is among the main characters of All Saints Street in the webcomic, and we can assumed that he’ll big an important character in the anime’s season 2. Fans of the webcomic seems to think that Nick is the sexiest character in the series, and whether that’s true or not, we will find that out soon. Just like Neil, Nick could also transform into his true form which is a black-furred goat.
Where to Watch All Saints Street Anime?
Now that we had met the characters from anime, it’s about time for people who hadn’t seen it yet to watch All Saints Street immediately. It’s available at Tencent Video’s official website and selected channels on YouTube:
There were only few of the characters from All Saints Street anime series that we loved. There’ll be some more characters coming soon when All Saints Street Season 2 will be officially confirmed. If you hadn’t seen All Saints Street yet, I am telling you to check it out because it is golden and furball of sunshine and positivity. Wanting for more Chinese anime shows? Spring 2020 Anime Season – My Final Impression Review
Posted by :
zahid
Hey guys, it’s me Yu and I am back for another final impression review for the seasonal lineup of 2020 and this time, we’ll talk about the mild spring 2020 season. To some people in the anime community, spring 2020 season had been quite non-existent, this is due to the effect of Covid-19 pandemic in the industry which caused some series and movies to be postponed or delayed indefinitely. Unfortunately, among my favorites that have been postponed from spring 2020 anime lineup are Food Wars Season 5, The Millionaire Detective, Appare-Ranman!, Re:Zero Season 2, Sword Art Online III: War of the Underworld Part 2, and Oregairu Season 3 (all are rescheduled for release as part of the summer 2020 anime lineup). In the movies, Violet Evergarden the Movie and Given are supposed to be released last spring too.
Nonetheless, spring 2020 anime season had been a fun one too. The delay and postponement of the giants I had mentioned above also give chance to new anime to gain attention and followers. In fact, some of the titles that continue to air from spring surprised me such as Hamefura: My Next Life as a Villainess, and Princess Connect! Re:Dive, both shows might be among my last options to watch if some bigger titles weren’t postponed.
Now, I would like to share my thoughts about the spring 2020 lineup as a whole and which anime dominated the entire season and satisfied me. If you had been following our Facebook Page: Yu Alexius Anime Portal, you might be familiar that Kaguya-sama: Love is War had dominated the season for us. So, I’ll start my list of the best anime of the spring 2020 seasonwith our favorite student council group.
KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR SEASON 2
Studio: A-1 Pictures | Topping our spring 2020 anime season is the 2nd season of Kaguya-sama: Love is War which has been our 19th best anime of 2019. As the only anime that dominated the season in various ways, Kaguya-sama: Love is War season 2 has proven to surpassed its previous season and gave us a fantastic ride filled with humor, romance, high school teenage cliche, and sentimental moments. The student council also got a new member that further bring fun and excitement to the group. Well, I must say that Kaguya-sama: Love is War season 2 had been symbolized by Yuu Ishigami’s highlight, and the romantic progress between Kaguya & Shirogane while the friendship of the student council members grows deeper.

AHIRU NO SORA
Studio: Diomedia | For the 3rdtime, Ahiru no Sora finished inside the Top 10 of our seasonal review, it was at the 10th spot from our Winter 2020 anime season final review. I must say, all the intense drama that has been built up from the previous seasons had been reached its climax this spring. How come that almost every episode had me cried, and the boys from the Basketball team had captured my heart. We all know that each of them is battling their own war and it’s amazing to see them in a new light, beyond what could only be seen in the basketball court. Ahiru no Sora truly had us cutting some onions throughout the season, isn’t it?
TOWER OF GOD
Studio: Telecom Animation Film | Alright, we have here a personal favorite of mine and had been quite controversial due to a notorious betrayal. I won’t spill that much here so I can’t spoil anyone but Tower of God has been a fantastic ride despite being dubbed as the Tower of Betrayal. I believe the Tower of God has a perfect blend of action, drama, and comedy, as well as its vivid character designs and visuals, are beautiful. Aside from the wonderful concept provided by the source material, Tower of God anime adaptation had been a good one and was able to satisfy the viewers despite several changes that they made in the story. If you’d been interested in the Tower of God ranking the system, and its characters, you may want to check our post: The Strongest Regulars from Tower of God Anime Series.

SING “YESTERDAY” FOR ME
Studio: Doga Kobo | Here’s a slow-burning love story that felt so dull but also realistic in so many ways. It is so simple but it hits close to home. Throughout its run, Sing “Yesterday” for Me had given us a real-world romance and drama that any of us can relate ourselves with. Well, we had the four main protagonists in the story, and each of them represents any of us who are struggling romantically while also coping up with life itself. I am personally hit with Rikou’s story because I could relate to him at some point but also annoyed with how lame he was. Nonetheless, I felt it’s okay since, in one way or another, any one of us could be lame and pathetic in various situations.

FRUITS BASKET SEASON 2
Studio: TMS Entertainment | Alright, the 2nd season of the 2019’s remake of Fruits Basketis back this spring and it once again delivers the drama, thus it is landing at our 5th spot. It just fell short a bit from its 4th place spot from spring 2019 anime review from us. I personally felt that the story has been quite dull this season but it is understandable since the anime is 2-cour length and the first half were only made for the built-up of the story for the next cour. I believed the highlight of Fruits Basket season 2 will took place this summer. Nevertheless, we had an awesome moment between Tohru and Kyo, as well as Tohru and Yuki this season, while Akito also showed how psychotic she is.
ASCENDANCE OF A BOOKWORM SEASON 2
Studio: Ajia-do | This has been an amazing season with Myne and the rest of the gang from Ascendance of a Bookworm. While it’s far from being excellent, I love how it was able to keep the pace and relaxing ambiance from its previous season last fall. What’s even more amazing is that the nobles finally comes into the picture. I can’t choose who should I choose an as best boy from this series too, I love Ferdinand, Benno, and Fran, and how they cared for Myne for one reason or another. I just wish a 3rd season for the anime will be announced soon. Ascendance of Bookworm is among my top-tiered favorite isekai anime which really established itself from the rest of its contemporaries.

KAKUSHIGOTO
Studio: Ajia-do | The drama and comedy are top-notch in this anime. Kakushigoto has been a fantastic ride for me and I love how it deceived us about its plot twist. The storytelling is great with a wonderful soundtrack and visually stunning graphics. It’s a wholesome comedy-drama anime that revolves around an awesome father-and-daughter relationship, and the people around them.

MY NEXT LIFE AS A VILLAINESS: ALL ROUTES LEADS TO DOOM!
Studio: Silver Link | From the studio that gave us BOFURI which bring all the sunshine to our winter 2020 anime season, My Next Life as a Villainess or simply known as Hamefura, and sometimes as Bakarina had brought the sun shines radiantly this spring. The plot is nothing spectacular, it’s just another isekai story where the main protagonist has been reincarnated in another world, but this time as a villain. It’s adorable, it’s hilarious and romantic. Our main character Catarina sure defies all odds and made us all fall in love with her. GLEIPNIR
Studio: Pine Jam | Action and mystery makes Gleipnir thrives aside from its intense usage of fan service. I love the concept that we had with Gleipnir although I felt it wasn’t written to its full potential, or maybe we just need a season 2 to finally wrapped its story. There are loose ends in the story but the animation sequence sure is superb as well as the soundtrack.
What the Anime Community Has to Say?
BNA (BRAND NEW ANIMAL)
Studio: Trigger | An original anime and BNA simply reminded me of Beastars from last year. The story is really written well with an astounding amount of great animation. The characters are interesting too but the plot seems to be plainly generic and didn’t really resolve the issue of how the 2 races will conquer its differences. Nonetheless, the story is pretty progressive so I wish we could have a sequel to finally see what will happen next.

ARTE
Studio: SevenArcs | Feminism? Well, not really but there’s a fragment of it in this anime called Arte. It’s about a female painter who enters the world where only men were accepted and women were seen as unneeded. She has proven that she’s more than just her gender and her background as a noble, instead she has what it takes to stand on the same ground as men in her chosen field. Arte is a nice and inspiring story that every anime viewers should try to check out too.

PRINCESS CONNECT! RE:DIVE
Studio: Cygamespictures | From the director of KonoSuba, Princess Connect or simply known as PriConne has been a furball of sunshine this season. If ever you’ll wonder what happened to Kirito from Sword Art Online, fans might recognize him in this anime (haha). The main character Yuuki simply looks like Kirito so maybe our swordsman has been transmigrated in this anime. Nonetheless, the action is good, and the hilarious comedy is top-notched. Not to mention, that the music and the animation quality is really good while the visuals are purely aesthetic. The story isn’t something special, so I’ll give it a low score despite how good the other elements are of this anime. Nonetheless, if you want to have fun and relax, this anime should be included in your watchlist.

WOODPECKER DETECTIVE’S OFFICE
Studio: LIDEN FILMS | I think this anime failed miserably at playing its main genre as a mystery-investigative side. But it really thrives in its beautiful visuals and scenery, wonderful character designs and music. While the characters are quite interesting, the story is quite complicated to understand or maybe, we just hate the main character who is quite a scumbag or maybe that’s just how poets back to those days behave. Overall, Woodpecker Detective’s Office is a good combination of humor, drama, and some mediocre mystery plot but tolerable at the same time.

WAVE, LISTEN TO ME!
Studio: Sunrise | Minare Koda and her chatterbox personality are just hilarious. Wave, Listen to Mebring us the story of a girl who is working in a diner but also finds her way into the radio as an announcer and a unique one. I have mixed thoughts about this anime, but the characters are all interesting and they’re the reasons why I keep on watching it. One thing for sure is, Wave, Listen to Me is a good anime that every lover of seinen genre will enjoy.

THE 8TH SON? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Studio: Shin-Ei Animation & SynergySp | At the 15th spot of our review is the isekai anime that I find interesting but at the same time underwhelming. I really love the story at the beginning until that sparks eventually faded out later on. It has the potential to be good but I think the story was not that appealing as the succeeding episodes became lethargic.
